Technicolor CineStyle and Canon 5D MarkII

Industry giant Technicolor has released their CineStyle Picture Profile for Canon 5D Mark II HDSLR video. The CineStyle Profile produces a desaturated and flat image – something that is usually avoided, but here, it is the goal. So why all the fuss? Shadows and lowly lit areas will be more detailed, and adding contrast results much easier in Post than reducing it.

Once selected the Picture Profile, these camera settings should be used:

Sharpness: 0
Contrast: -4
Saturation: -2
Color Tone: 0
ISO: The Canon 5D Mark II has a native ISO of 160, so always choose 160 or multiples thereof.

If you rent one of our Canon 5D MarkII, the Technicolor Cine Style will be installed free of charge, upon request. Following the tech trend, that’s LocLum.

TV shoot at W Hotel

LocLum is very proud to have been the material provider for a TV shoot taking place at Barcelona’s newest and most beautyful location, right on the waterfront of Barceloneta Beach. The W Hotel (or Hotel Vela as locals call it for its form of a sail) has been the venue for many shoots supplied by LocLum, and our personal contacts allow for material delivery directly from the service entrance to rooms, suites, or even the balconies on the 22nd floor, whether there is staff present from production or not.

During three days, in- and outdoor locations around the hotel were the stage for one of the largest German TV stations. ARRI Compact HMIs, their power generators as well as our flexible California Sunbouncers were the weapon of choice.
